Calculate your Personal Year number
See the central theme carried by a particular calendar year. By Numbers follows the January 1–December 31 convention, so the result describes the same calendar period for everyone.
How it works
How to calculate a Personal Year
Add the digits of your birth month and birth day to the digits of the calendar year you want to explore, then reduce the total. Your birth year is not used because this calculation describes the relationship between your recurring birthday pattern and the selected year.
For example, someone born on 24 July calculating 2026 adds 2 + 4 + 0 + 7 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 23, then 2 + 3 = 5. Their Personal Year for 2026 is 5.

What the nine Personal Years describe
The cycle moves through nine broad emphases: 1 beginnings, 2 patience and partnership, 3 expression, 4 foundations, 5 change, 6 responsibility, 7 reflection, 8 material stewardship and 9 completion. A number describes the atmosphere of a year, not a guaranteed event.
Personal Months add a shorter rhythm inside the annual theme, while Pinnacles, Period Cycles and Essences place the year inside a longer life chapter.
Common questions
Personal Year calculator FAQ
When does a Personal Year begin?
By Numbers uses January 1 to December 31. Some numerology traditions use a birthday-to-birthday transition; neither convention should be mixed halfway through a reading.
Does a Personal Year predict what will happen?
No. It describes themes and priorities that may be more noticeable during the year. Your choices and circumstances remain your own.
Can I calculate a past or future year?
Yes. Use any calendar year to reflect on a past pattern or understand the theme assigned to a future chapter.
